This operation defines the data that have to be read on the form, the way to read them, the operation to be made before and after reading.

1.   Before using the software it needs to take the base form: this operation can be done using the Desktop Reader application. If the form has more than one page you must create a multi page tiff file. If the form acquisition removes the pre-printed part of this one, as the scanner uses a red lamp and the pre-printed part is red, it is not possible to operate carefully the selection of the areas to recognize seeing that the lines and the boxes will be invisible: it is right to make the scanning of a form photocopy so as to view correctly all the elements and to operate the definition of the fields. Before using the application, it will be required to re-insert the original "blind" form as the reading phase could not be successful. Besides, it is better to use an empty form acquired with the same resolution of the documents to be read: to getting a good reading it is advised 300 or more DPI.

2.   Set in the Application settings dialog window an empty form (not written) that will be shown on the screen. In this dialog it must be indicated where to store data aftre recognition, choosing between files and database tables: read the procedure Define data output format to more informations. In the same dialog you can also define general pre-processing operation on the images, as deskew, black borders removal, alignment and form removal.

3.   Set up the view of the form by using the View menu command to make more easily the selection of fields areas.

4.   Define, one after other, the fields to recognize following the procedure Define recognition fields.

5.   As the fields are recognized following the insertion order, could be required to modifiy the sorting. That is allowed through the Sorting command from Fields menu.

6.   You can use the scripts to customize the recognition processing into the Script section: see the paragraph Use the Script.

7.   Save the job by using the Save As command from the File menu.
